Genericode is an XML distribution format for code lists that was first proposed at XML 2004 (http://www.idealliance.org/proceedings/xml04/abstracts/paper86.html). Draft versions of genericode are already in use by UBL (Universal Business Language – OASIS) and FpML (Financial Products Markup Language – ISDA). By the time of XML 2007, genericode will have passed its second public review, and should be ready for the final vote to make it an OASIS standard.
This lightning presentation is a brief summary of what genericode is for (and what it isn’t for), who is using it or trialling it, and what software currently supports it. Information on genericode is available via http://www.genericode.org/
